Location & Area
The location of Guri
Guri lies in the northeastern area of Gyeonggi-do located
in the midwestern region of the Korean peninsula.
It faces Namyangju with Wangsukcheon Stream as a boundary in the east and is also adjacent to Namyangju in the north. Hangang River flows in the southern part and Gangdong-gu, Seoul lies across the river. Guri is situated between Songpa-gu, Seoul and Hanam-si, Gyeonggi-do.
Guri is located at 127˚ 06’ 05” to 127˚ 10’ 25” east longitude and from 37˚ 33’ 10” to 37˚ 39’ 50” north latitude.
The whole area is 33.3km².
The current area was determined in December 1995. As Guji-myeon was renamed Guri-myeon, the administrative district of Guri included part of Seoul and Namyangju in 1914. In 1963, part of present-day Seoul was separated again.
